Statewide implementation of YoungStar began in 2011. YoungStar is a five-star rating system for child care providers based on education, learning environment and curriculum, business and professional practices, and the health and well being of children. Providers that are licensed group, licensed family, certified family, or regulated by a public school board are eligible to participate in YoungStar. Licensed Day Camps will be added to YoungStar in March 2014. Programs that currently receive Wisconsin Shares Child Care Subsidy must participate in YoungStar in order to receive Wisconsin Shares.
